Privacy at a glance

The full policy below explains each of these in detail.

1. About us and this policy

Please don't send these to us. If you do, we will destroy or de-identify them unless the law requires us to keep them.

3. How we collect it

We collect most personal information directly from you, when you:

We also collect some information from others:

We do not buy contact lists, and we do not collect your details from other lead generators or comparison sites.

If we receive personal information we didn't ask for and couldn't have lawfully collected, we will destroy or de-identify it. Section 9 explains how we store and protect what we hold.

4. Why we collect and use it

We collect, hold and use your personal information to:

We will only use your information for another purpose if you agree, if it is related to these purposes and you would reasonably expect it, or if the law allows or requires it.

If you don't give us your contact details, postcode and answers to our booking questions, we can't arrange an introduction.

Automated decisions. We do not use computer programs to make decisions about you that could significantly affect your rights or interests. A person reviews every enquiry before we decide whether and to whom to introduce you.

5. Who we share it with

The adviser we introduce you to. When you request a call, you consent to us passing your name, contact details, postcode and your answers to our booking questions to one licensed financial adviser or advice firm we select for you. The adviser will be an Australian financial services licensee or one of its authorised representatives. We tell you who they are when we confirm your booking, and they will contact you by phone or email to arrange the call. From then on, the adviser handles your information under their own privacy policy.

We are paid by advisers for booked introductions. The adviser pays us a fee when you attend a call with them. The call is always free for you. We only disclose your details to an adviser with your consent, and we will not pass them to a second adviser without asking you first.

Service providers who help us run the business, such as our website host, form and email tools, customer records system, SMS provider, advertising platforms, bank and accountant. They may only use your information to provide their service to us.

Advertising platforms. Our tracking pixels share information about your visit and form submission with Meta (section 8).

Others where required or allowed by law, for example under a court order, to a regulator such as the OAIC or ASIC, or to prevent a serious threat to someone's life, health or safety.

We never sell, rent or trade your details to list brokers, other lead generators, super funds or product providers.

6. Information sent overseas

The advisers we introduce you to are in Australia. Some of our service providers store or process personal information overseas. We are likely to disclose personal information to recipients in these countries:

ProviderWhat they do for usLikely location
Meta (Facebook, Instagram)Lead forms, ad measurement, tracking pixelUnited States, Ireland
GoogleBusiness email (Gmail), our private enquiry spreadsheet (Google Sheets) and the script that receives booking forms (Google Apps Script)United States
CloudflareHosts our website. Your form answers are not stored on Cloudflare; it only handles technical details such as your IP address.United States (global network)

Before we use a provider, we take reasonable steps to make sure they handle personal information in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

7. Calls, messages and marketing

About your enquiry. When you request an introduction, you agree that we and the adviser we introduce you to may call, email or text you about arranging your call. This applies even if your number is on the Do Not Call Register. We will not cold call you.

Marketing. We only send marketing emails or texts, such as retirement planning articles or reminders about our service, if you have agreed to receive them. Every marketing message identifies us and includes a free, simple way to unsubscribe. We act on unsubscribe requests within 5 working days.

You can also opt out any time by contacting our Privacy Officer, and you can ask us where we got your details. Opting out of our marketing does not stop the adviser contacting you about a call you booked. Contact them directly if you no longer want to hear from them.

We do not sell or share your details with anyone else for their own marketing.

8. Cookies, tracking pixels and analytics

Our website uses cookies and tracking pixels. These are different things, and we use both.

What the Meta Pixel sends to Meta. Your IP address, device and browser details, the pages you visit, which ad brought you here, and the fact that you submitted our booking form. Meta may match this to your Facebook or Instagram account. We set up the pixel so it does not send your form answers, such as your name, email or savings band.

Why we use it. To measure which ads work, to show our ads to people likely to be interested, and to avoid showing ads to people who have already enquired. We may also upload the email addresses and phone numbers of people who have enquired to Meta, in scrambled (hashed) form. Meta uses them only to match people to their accounts, so we can stop showing our ads to people who have already enquired and reach people with similar interests. You can ask our Privacy Officer to exclude your details from this at any time.

Meta may also use this information for its own purposes under its own privacy policy.

Your choices. When you first visit our site, a banner lets you turn off non-essential cookies and tracking pixels. You can change this any time using the "Cookie settings" link in our footer. You can also ask our Privacy Officer to stop using your information for targeted ads, block or delete cookies in your browser, and limit ad tracking in your Facebook, Instagram and Google settings. Our booking form still works if you opt out.

9. How we store, protect and keep it

We hold your information electronically, using cloud-based service providers (section 6). We don't keep paper files.

Our website does not store your details. When you submit the booking form, your answers travel over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection straight to our Google Workspace account. They are kept in a private spreadsheet and sent to our business inbox, which only we can access. The form rejects incomplete or altered submissions and limits repeated ones, to protect against spam and misuse.

We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, change or disclosure. These include password-protected accounts, two-factor authentication where available, and limiting access to people who need it. No system is perfectly secure.

We keep your information only as long as we need it:

After that, we securely destroy or de-identify it.

10. Accessing, correcting or deleting your information

You have the right to ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it if it is wrong, out of date, incomplete or misleading. You can also ask us to delete it.

Contact our Privacy Officer (section 1) by email, phone or post. You don't need to use a particular form. We will confirm your identity, then respond within 30 days. We don't charge for requests or corrections.

If we refuse access or a correction, we will explain why in writing and tell you how to complain. If we don't correct information, you can ask us to attach a statement that you believe it is wrong.

If you ask us to delete your information after an introduction, we will delete our copy, except records we must keep by law (section 9). The adviser holds their own copy, so contact them separately.

11. Staying anonymous

You can browse our website and ask general questions without telling us who you are. To arrange an introduction, we need your real name and contact details, so an adviser can reach you.

12. If there is a data breach

If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm to anyone, we will notify the people affected and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as soon as practicable, as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

13. Making a privacy complaint

If you think we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, please tell us so we can fix it.

  1. Contact us first, in writing. Email or post your complaint to our Privacy Officer (section 1). Tell us what happened and how you'd like it resolved.
  2. We investigate. We will acknowledge your complaint within 7 days, look into it, and give you a written response within 30 days.
  3. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992. The OAIC usually expects you to have given us 30 days to respond first.

Complaints about financial advice you receive go to the adviser's own complaints process, and then to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) at afca.org.au.

14. Changes to this policy

We review this policy at least once a year, and whenever our practices or the law change. The latest version is always on our website, with the date it was last updated. If we make a significant change to how we share your information, we will tell people with active enquiries directly.

We welcome feedback on this policy. Send it to our Privacy Officer.
